William D. Causey

President

Bill Causey graduated from NC State in 2014 with a masters degree in textile engineering. In 2015, he moved to Massachusetts to work as a project engineer for the US Army where he oversaw the development of soldier protective equipment for arctic and jungle environments. He moved back to NC at the end of 2019 to co-found Katabasis and start building connections with stakeholders in eastern NC.

Joseph B. Wiggins

Vice President

Dr. Joseph B. Wiggins co-founded Katabasis after completing his Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing with a focus on Educational AI. He is particularly interested in the creation of accessible and affordable educational AI that can scale to support rural areas and serve diverse student needs.

Yerika Jiménez

Director of AI and CS Education Research

Dr. Yerika Jiménez has a strong passion for designing accessible learning environments and conducting cutting-edge research on AI and CS Education. She believes the key to AI and CS success is being able to decompose a problem, analyze the parts, and debug the issues you are facing.

ALEX CAIL

Technical Lead

Alex Cail is a Technical Lead who puts usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction first in software design. She received her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from NC State and joined the Katabasis team in 2023. At Katabasis, Alex works to coordinate the co-design of intuitive, engaging interfaces and apply software best practices to our educational solutions.

Software Developer

James Barkley is a developer focused on immersive experiences. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from NC State. At Katabasis, he is responsible for building educational games in Unreal, Unity, Godot and designing accessible experiences for use in the classroom.
